One of the Many Mistakes I Made as a Mother – “MUST READ”

Ever since we have shifted to a new place where online grocery services are many and all of these claims to deliver the order within 10, 20 or max 30 minutes, undoubtedly our life was sorted. And within very few days, Hitarth understood the procedure, and he knew how it worked.

So whenever he wanted something, he would ask us to order (if not available at home), and we always ordered immediately as it was convenient. The same process has been continued for over six months now.

”He demands; We order it online, and ultimately fulfill his demand within no time.”

All was good until last night. When an insomniac person, that is me, was doing the daily ritual ”trying to sleep.” And you know what insomniacs do? Think, think and overthink.

So this is it. Last night, as usual, I was thinking something or the other when this thought came into my mind. I thought about this online ‘very fast’ delivery service and realized that unknowingly we are making a mistake by fulfilling his demand as soon as he makes it.

This way, we are making him an IMPATIENT kid, and in his dictionary, a word called ”WAIT” doesn’t exist as he never had to wait for anything.

And frankly, in the last six months, he has become an impatient kid. Now, if we ask him to wait, he throws tantrums because it has become his habit to get whatever he wants immediately. For him, the wait time is only 10 minutes, not more than that. And this was not the case earlier, because 6 months back, he knew the meaning of ‘Wait’ and always waited.

The most important thing to note here is; that Hitarth is a child whose attention we can easily divert from one thing to another, and still, I did all this without realizing its negative impacts on his behavior.

So, yeah! Now that I have realized that I have made this mistake, I have already started working on it. Today, he asked for green apples, and I didn’t order and instead told him to wait till his dad came from the office. He showed tantrums for two-three minutes, then I asked him, ”Let’s paint,” and this is it. He forgot about the apple.

To summarize, I would say that sometimes or many times, we mothers also make mistakes, which is OKAY! After all,
WE ARE PERFECTLY IMPERFECT MOTHERS!
